Rajasthan was formed on March 1949 after the kingdom merged with the dominion of India. The state of Rajasthan is in the northwestern part of India, and the name literally means “Land of Kings”. The state capital is Jaipur which is also known as the “Pink city”. The pink hue comes from the houses built with a type of pink coloured sandstone.

Rajasthan tourism operates the State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) and privates buses are available for local and intrastate travel.
